Lambda Colony's First Probate |
|
Delta Epsilon Psi Lambda Colony at the University of Central Florida recently had its first probate ever, unveiling the Gamma Class. There were many doubts and speculation going on internally within the colony and other chapters in Florida about whether Lambda should do a probate or not because Lambda Colony only had 2 brothers cross who were able show the true dedication and passion for Delta Epsilon Psi. Most probate shows reveal bigger lines then two, so the debate continued. In the end however, it was agreed that the two brothers would be more then capable of putting on a good show and that Lambda had to put on a show being that the colony recently got on campus. After many long nights and endless preparation, the big night finally arrived on January 20th, 2010. I was part of the entrance for the line and got their early to get backstage for last minute preparations. The doors opened and the room began to fill fast and the atmosphere soon became very vibrant. I wish I could have seen the various people all representing their respectful organizations having a good time mixing and strolling but I couldn’t because I had to stay hidden for the special entrance. The time came when it was showtime. Everything went according to plan if not better, the crowd loved the entrance. Soon it was just our two new neo’s on stage, taking over the show for their spotlight. They made the crowd ohhhhh and ahhhhh, they made the crowd laugh and sympathize. They both rocked the show. Finally it was time for them to be unmasked and for the capacity crowed to see the newest additions to our brotherhood and to the UCF Greek Community. After the unveiling and speeches by the two neos, the show was thought to be over but I was wrong. Much of the crowd stayed behind to personally congratulate the new additions and to meet brothers from other chapters and colonies who had come out to show support. This got me thinking on how amazing it would have been if my class, a line of nine had the chance for a probate. We found out afterwards that every Greek organization campus had come out to watch our first probate which was pretty shocking. The past probates I’ve been to on campus, there was never one that had full complete attendance from every organization. It makes me proud to say I was a part of this probate and more importantly a part of Lambda Colony. We don’t lie when we say Delta Epsilon Psi is doing big things! Our next probate, will be bigger and even better then before.
