Special Friends Day
Waking up at 7 in the morning on a Sunday morning isn’t how Kappa Colony usually starts their day. However March 7th was a special day. The brothers of Kappa Colony participated in Special Friends Day. For the third straight year, brothers helped individuals that were less privileged to have an action packed day. This year’s theme was Pirates of the Caribbean. Kappa Colony constructed a vivid wooden ship with a built in game.

The objective of the game was simple: to grab a kick ball and try to throw it at a brother. Though the game can be considered simple, young individuals were having a good time. Over 25 brothers came out to support this event for over 6 hours. Though it was a strenuous day, the smiles that were on these young children’s faces reassured us that our job to give back to the community was being done. Special Friends day proved to be a very fun day; due to the consistently high turnout of brothers at the service events, the atmosphere was very lively.

Chirag Patel, president of Kappa Colony, was very pleased with the response of the Kappa brothers. “I liked seeing all my brothers out there participating in this event, but what made me the happiest was that everyone came to have fun and help from the bottom of their hearts. It didn’t even feel like a service event; it felt like a brotherhood event with an added purpose of helping these young kids have a good time.” Community service shouldn’t depend on how many hours you get.  Kappa Colony proved once again, that when their brothers are out to attend a service event, it is solely to give back to the community. After all, that’s what Delta Epsilon Psi is here for.
