On March 28th, 2010, the brothers of Delta Epsilon Psi from Iota Chapter were once again thrilled to have the opportunity to serve its surronding community and carry out our Fraternity’s principles and mission by helping out at the Annual Kids’ Gala hosted by JDRF at the local ice rink. The kids that attended the exciting event had the chance to skate on the ice as well as play games out on the ice with the Brothers’ that promoted health & knowledge for the growing kids. Even the mascot from the local WNBA team stopped by to have fun out on the ice with them, as well as assit in raffling off various items such as zoo tickets, wii, and movie passes for the kids to enjoy. After skating and fun attendees were treated to food as well as an information session that highlighted JDRF’s success in the community and upcoming events for the San Antonio region. The brothers of Iota chapter thoroughly enjoyed the chance to help JDRF out with its event as well as spend time with the kids in the community. “The chance to give back to the community is always a great thing to undertake, and having fun with the kids out on the ice did more than enough to get rid of the coldness of the ice, and replace it with the warmth from the knowledge of serving our community” – Theta Class. Such events allow the community to become more aware of JDRF and take an active stance in helping out the charity continue its commitment to both those affected by juvenille diabetes as well as continuation of research for a cure. Working with Stephanie Williams of JDRF throughout the entire year for such events as the Monster Mash, Walk for the Cure, and the Kids’ Gala has always been a pleasure 0r Iota Chapter and we as a whole always look forward to help Stephanie and JDRF out whenever given the chance.
