Each chapter of Delta Epsilon Psi strives to be the best in all that is does. Each year the National Council takes time to look back at what each Chapter has been able to accomplish over the last year and votes to name the Chapter of the Year. This year this honor was bestowed upon our Gamma Chapter at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Since it was founded, Gamma Chapter has had a history of excellence. They have consistently been ranked as one of the best organizations on the campus of Texas A&M, both in terms of service and social events. This year was no different as they hosted a number of service and social events, culminating with the Festival of India 2007.
Gamma Chapters year began with a dedication to brining in new members to the fraternity and at the same time a rededicated effort to ensuring that the chapter was financially sound. By the end of the year Gamma Chapter had 12 new members and had fundraised enough to continue to not charge dues to all of its members. They also stayed true to the principle of service by accumulating over 450 hours of community service over the past year.
At the same time, Gamma Chapter took on the challenge of hosting the Festival of India 2007 in College Station. It had been years since the Festival of India travelled to Texas A&M, but Gamma Chapters dedication to excellence made it the clear choice to host FOI. After months of planning, the weekend went off without a hitch and consisted of a basketball tournament, talent show, and after parties with a performance by world renowned recording artists 112.
The year was one that was quite successful for Gamma Chapter. They not only were able to hold true to the fundamental principles of our fraternity, but at the same time they were able to take their chapter to the next level. For these accomplishments, we congratulate Gamma Chapter for being named the Chapter of the Year.
