Delta Epsilon Psi has grown significantly in the last year and a half, and thus created the Colony of the Year award which is meant to recognize the efforts of our colonies in their short existence as part of this fraternity. This year, the award recipient was the first to establish a colony in the Northeast region, and it was through their efforts and persistence that we have grown so much in the north and been able to establish successful colonies in that region. Delta Epsilon Psi recognizes the Kappa Colony at Rutgers University as this year's Colony of the Year.
Kappa Colony during its short time being a part of this fraternity has been a stake hold for success in the Northeast region helping to develop interest groups at other universities and work towards the inception of new colonies in the region. They have given back to the community by volunteering for over 1500 hours as a colony in large scale events such as Bone Marrow drives and creating their very own signature event called the Sugar Spike Off Volleyball Tournament. This event raised thousands of dollars while bringing out other Greek and student organizations to participate in a day of enjoyment benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They have recruited successful classes of new brothers at Rutgers and it is indicative through the amount of brotherhood these men have within each other. They host several events designed to bring all brothers together to enjoy each other's company and celebrate their successes, in addition to hosting several social events with other organizations and the young community of New Brunswick. The brothers of Kappa Colony have become a foundation in the Northeast region of Delta Epsilon Psi, and their efforts play a large part for the success in expansion that Delta Epsilon Psi has experienced.
